"The Time Will Tell" Development Program with PSC |
 |
|
Embark on a journey in time! Ski with the 2009 NASTAR National Champion*. But don’t just listen to his advice - let the time tell the truth about your skiing!
Video Captured Movement Analysis and Instruction Option
race2ski
Introduce racing concepts, skills and drills into your skiing and this mountain will grow – just for you – a few thousand feet, easy. You will ski with more control and at levels never attainable before.
ski2race
- You are an aspiring racer, or have raced in the past, or participate in the NASTAR or club programs and want to improve your medal or club position, or
- Want to join the Weekend Warriors group - the type of racing and camaraderie we cannot get enough of!
Improve your balance and get outside of your "racing mode" to recognize and address identified inefficiencies in your stance or movement patterns or tactics; all that to attain new levels in speed and overall abilities. With this perspective and open mind the mountain will "grow" several thousand feet for you - and you will save a lot of time and money training locally, while achieving racing recognition on the regional and national levels.
Format: 4-session plans; each session lasting 1.5 hours spread over time. You pick your dates and time blocks; schedule and reschedule with a day’s notice. Other than the posted dates can be arranged. It’s that easy.
2010/2011 Dates (all, but the Super G session are weekends): January 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th, 22nd, 29th, and 30th. February 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, 26th and 27th. March 4th (Super G course inspection only), 5th and 6th. Additional date requests may be accommodated depending on coaches' availability.
Times: Session A: 9:00 am - 10:30 am (session open to PSC/RT member only and closed on race days); Session B: 12:30 pm – 2 pm, or Session C: 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm to choose from.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - In case of a minor, print and sign this WPSC Release form, and send it to the above mentioned address.

- Optionally, add $20 for club race series fees (recommended).
Example: If you'd like to sign up a minor for the TWT (4 sessions) and the Racing Team you need to fill two PSC application forms, one for the guardian and one for the minor and best if you now wrote one $40 check "for the membership". Then you need to fill the "programs stub" and the WPSC Release Form for the minor. Now, best if you write another $118 check for the TWT and the Race Team. Then, send these forms and two checks to the "stub" listed contact. Scheduling Guidelines:
- There are a maximum of three students per session with exception of the Super G course inspection one.

| Hands Forward Drill - Didier Cuche by code2ski | Excellent drill to wake your hands up, increase coordination and motor functions, and overall improve your balancing act and find some extra speed if you're looking for it.
| | Railroad Tracks Drill by code2ski | With the introduction of shaped skis carving has become not only
possible or easier, but it has developed into a whole new sport, in addition to revolutionizing alpine skiing and racing in itself.
Many instructors and coaches introduce the, so called, "railroad tracks"
drill as an entry-level exercise to carving, and also racing. Railroad track turns are called that because of the two, almost parallel marks left in the snow by the skis' inside-turn edges.
| | Performance Skiing - Focus Points by code2ski | What to focus on to reach your highest skiing potential.
This article is a synthesis of the "Old School... ...New School; What
Two Generations of Champions Can Teach You" article published by Ron
Kipp in the Alpine Masters Series; Autumn 2010. There are some
departures from the cause/effect interpretations of the original article
author, and the material has been adopted for the Time Will Tell
program students as "focus points".
| | Bob's Matador Turn by code2ski | 360 on the flats and 180 or less on sloping terrain. A flavor of Wagon Wheel drill but with the hub moved forward just outside the tip of your skis.
| | Wagon Wheel by code2ski | | Wagon wheel is what the name says it is. Picture a hub and spoke wheel in your mind and apply to the snow with your skis on. | | Erin's Trenches by code2ski | Trenches - best dug on soft days with your ski boots are usually longer and deeper then wider. They are your "magic skis" and are perfect to try before stepping into your first "real skis."
| | The Trick of Art by code2ski | The Trick of Art is an excellent drill, skill development and simply an eye-opening trick that can be used by both students and instructors. The trick is in using poles in a very unconventional way to make the body do what is otherwise a long road from explaining the concepts to seeing them applied in skiing.
| | Teaching Theory: Teaching and Learning Styles by code2ski | Joan E. Heaton is a popular contemporary writer on teaching styles in the PSIA circles, so if you happen to study for a certification with the oraganization, like I do this year, you'd rather get familiar with her work. They are well structured and widely accepted but, as always, one needs to be careful of not killing the natural dynamics of learning and teaching process with over-analysis. | | TELEMARKING for ALPINERS by code2ski | Not long ago I got my first opportunity to tele with and among some of the best free-heelers in the region. And I was hooked, big time! Now, did I hang my alpine boards and free-heel since? No, not at all but I cannot stop thinking about it and I cannot wait another opportunity to go out and tele again to further explore the truths about my alpine skiing! Yes, you got it right, ALPINE skiing. | | Components of Modern Alpine Skiing Techniques by robertz | Introduction of brakaway gates in the early 1980s had big impact on racing techniques but this time around changes in equipment and technology have revolutionized not only racing but skiing, in general. |
