Few words on the 2006 edition of the SuperG

Well organized and it's 10th edition the race is already drawing a good crowd of racers from the Mid-West and DC area. This is yet another gem in the Western Pennsylvania racing circles and a "must go" for any worrior.

A good selection of rock tunes and extremely professional crew created an atmosphere where fun and friendly conversation dominated the anxiety among racers although some serious competition was taking place in their minds. Well, I don't know how you define serious but if you haul another pair of skis and strip down to the skin suit, you're getting serious to me.

As to the course, I have to admit, this was a Gunnar knock off; few easy gates lead to the machine made ledge for a short, yet technical jump where you could end up tangled on the left red gate or land too straight to make a good turn for the right blue. No reason to get out of tuck on the steeps with a chance for a good photo there, then flats, and then the race began... from the last blue on the flats you would transition to the right accross the slope fast approaching the second headwall but had to start your left turn before having seen the next red gate. If you did not start your transition before you saw the red, you were LATE and time was left on the hill for others to shave! Then if you made this turn in a good shape nothing would stop you from finishing the race at high speed and under 50 secs.

Again, thanks to everyone who helped organize the race and see you next year!
